LANFILES / PRIVACY
Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-10-31
The provider of LanFiles, noriokun4649 (the “Operator”), sets out how information is handled in the LanFiles app below.
1. Information used and purposes
LanFiles lists, searches, previews, copies, moves, edits, and deletes files on devices, USB storage, networks, and cloud services to which you have granted access. It processes filenames, contents, storage locations, sizes, modification times, and related information for these operations. Processing takes place between your device and the destinations you specify. There is no mechanism that automatically collects your files or operation history on the Operator’s servers.
Storage permissions are used for file operations. Notifications and background execution are used to continue transfers and display progress. You do not need a separate LanFiles account to use the app.
When you select and open an APK file, it is passed to Android's package installer. Android controls installation permission and confirmation. LanFiles does not automatically install apps or perform self-updates.
2. Local storage and protection
The app stores connections, account identifiers, settings, favorites, folder pairs, saved layouts, comparison and hash results, playback positions, thumbnails, temporary copies, and editing recovery data on your device. Saved passwords, private keys, Microsoft authentication tokens, and similar credentials are protected using encryption backed by Android Keystore. This does not encrypt every stored item, such as connection labels or account display names.
The app disables Android’s standard backup through its application settings. If you use Root permissions or unencrypted connections, the protection available depends on your device and connection environment.
3. Network and cloud connections
Connections to SMB, NFSv3, FTP protocols, Nextcloud, OneDrive, Google Drive, and other destinations send the credentials, file information, and contents needed for your operations to the servers or authentication services you select. These services receive communication information such as your IP address and process it under their own policies. Nextcloud app passwords and NAS credentials are used to authenticate with those destinations. Microsoft sign-in uses Microsoft’s authentication screen.
External services such as the cloud providers you select may process information outside Japan. Their respective policies govern retention, protection, and your rights regarding information sent to those providers.
The current version hides new-connection and setup entries for OneDrive and Google Drive. This policy also applies when using saved connections.
Google Drive
Connections use Android’s account chooser and Google’s permission screen. LanFiles does not ask you to enter your Google password into a screen created by LanFiles.
LanFiles requests the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive scope. As a file manager working across existing Drive files and folders, it uses this permission to list, search, read, download, preview, upload, create, rename, move, and delete items. This permission is not limited to files created by the app. Review Google’s confirmation screen before granting access.
Your account email address and identifier, Drive file metadata and contents, and access tokens are used to identify the connection and perform the functions you operate. Identifiers are stored on the device, while short-lived access tokens are held temporarily in memory. Google Play services manages ongoing authentication. Files may be cached on the device for previewing or editing.
Data obtained from Drive is not used for advertising, ad personalization, sale, data brokerage, credit assessment, or training general-purpose AI models, and is not passed to advertising SDKs. The Operator does not routinely view file contents. When you choose to copy, share, or open a file in another app, the selected data is passed to the destination you specify.
LanFiles’s use and transfer to other apps of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
To disconnect, choose “Delete connection” from the Google Drive connection menu on the Network / Cloud screen. This removes the connection information and token cache from your device; it does not delete files on Drive or revoke access granted through Google. You can revoke Google’s permissions separately through Google Account connections.
4. Advertising, purchases, and usage collection
LanFiles contains no advertising, in-app purchases, or usage analytics SDK. It does not request ads, collect advertising identifiers, or verify or restore purchases.
5. Other apps and optional connections
When you choose to share files, open them in another app, or share diagnostic information, the selected data is sent to your chosen destination. Displaying external content in HTML or similar documents, fetching comment data, and following external links may contact external services according to the feature and its settings. Those apps and services process information under their own privacy policies.
6. Retention and deletion
Settings and connection information are retained until you delete them, clear the app’s data through Android, or take a similar action. Thumbnails follow the configured retention period and storage limit. Temporary files can be deleted in Settings, and unwanted drafts can be discarded in the editor. Comparison and hash history, layouts, and Root shortcuts are each limited to 30 entries. Saved tool data can be cleared from the Temporary files screen in Settings. Folder pairs are managed separately.
You can view, change, and delete locally stored information through the app’s screens. Revoking permissions in Android settings stops access to the corresponding storage or resources. Clearing app data or uninstalling the app does not delete files saved or exported to shared storage or cloud services; delete those files at their storage locations. Use each external service’s controls to review, delete, or revoke information and permissions it holds.
7. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised text and effective date will be provided in the app. Where the law requires additional notice or consent, the necessary procedures will be followed.
